What is Robotic Cardiac Surgery?
Robotic Cardiac Surgery is a minimally invasive surgical technique in which the surgeon performs heart surgery using a robotic-assisted surgical platform. The surgeon remains in complete control of every movement throughout the operation.
Instead of making a large incision through the breastbone, robotic-assisted procedures are performed through several small incisions between the ribs in carefully selected patients. A high-definition 3D camera and robotic instruments provide excellent visualization and precise movement inside the chest.
The robotic system does not perform surgery independently—it functions as an advanced extension of the surgeon’s hands.

Benefits vs. Conventional Surgery
For carefully selected patients, robotic-assisted surgery may provide smaller incisions, enhanced surgical precision, reduced postoperative discomfort, and faster return to normal activities.
However, Conventional Open-Heart Surgery (full sternotomy) provides broad access and is preferred for many multivessel and combined complex operations. The most appropriate approach is determined after detailed clinical assessment rather than patient preference alone.
